Wow. Thanks for that Simone.

That's truly sad. It's such a lovely place and to see terrorists and a virus
cause it so much harm is really upsetting.

Btw - a friend returned recently from some Croatian islands - he said is was
quite amazing! I'm tempted to go and see as the photos looks truly amazing.

Regards,

Nick

Hi Nick:

Unfortunately Majorca became a goal of ETA recently:

e-security-clampdown-fears-Spain-faces-summer-terror-attacks.html

In addition to this Swine Flu is a serious problem as well there.
http://www.austriantimes.at/news/General_News/2009-07-17/14793/Five_get_swi
ne_flu_after_Mallorca_vacation
Each day there are reports about tourists returning home from Majorca and
are infected by H1N1. No wonder - there is on of the biggest party area in
Europe at the Platja Palma.

Nevertheless I liked the "isola" when I spent many times my Russian winter
break in March. Spring is the perfect time - silent, blooming, authentic.

Simone,

The Canaries climate can hardly be called "mild" at this time of year. It's
peak season there now (the only time it's in higher demand is New Year). I
lived there for a few years and the only time it was "mild" was Nov-Feb
when it hits 18-20oC.

Mallorca, as far as I remember, has never been target by ETA although
they're not as German-friendly as they used to be. Something to do with
increasing taxes to Germans looking to buy properties there but this was a
few years ago so I can't remember the exact details. Being an island, it
MIGHT be a little less at risk from Swine Flu that mainland Spain too. It
could also be closer to 30oC than 20oC so it might be too hot for Gurminder
but it's still an excellent destination if you keep away from the two
horrible party areas that are spoiled by young Germans and young British
louts.

Rgds,

Nick
