Subject: Re: Expat List kindle kwerie

Hi:

I had the same problem a while back, but solved it without worrying about what
Amazon did or did not do..........Kindle comes in 3 versions, 1, 2 and DX (The
DX Version handles PDFs). I have a Kindle 2

Do you realize that normal PDF File Books (Novels - NEW TITLES and OLD, Text
Books, Kids Books, Travel Books, etc. they number in the millions without the
DRM protection) that are available on the Internet eBook sites and Torrent
Sites which can be downloaded for Free - NO COST -

Well, these can be easily converted to the Kindle PRC/mobi Format with a Free
Software Program.which is called Mobile Pocket Creator Publisher Edition.
Or there is another Free Program called AUTO KINDLE..Listed on Sound Forge.
STANZA is another Program that does the conversion. Plus there are some others
also
(These Convert PDFs (or anything you make into a PDF - Photos, Documents, etc),
LIT, HTML, and TXT Files to PRC/MOBI for KINDLE

The Links for Download of MobiPocket and Auto Kindle softwares are as Follows:

Kindle PDF conversion – View PDF on Kindle « Kindle Review – Kindle 2 Review,
Books Link to get Mobil Pocket Creator Publisher Edition (Use this Edition as
the Home Edition does not allow you to import a PDF)

Converting your PDF files to Kindle using PDF2LRF (Better than Amazon's
conversion) - MobileRead Forums (This is Another Method like Amazon, but FREE)

Auto Kindle eBook Converter | Get Auto Kindle eBook Converter at
SourceForge.net Link to get Auto Kindle

If you use another Free Conversion Program, you can convert CBR (Comic Book)
Files to PDF then convert those to Kindle

Another Free Conversion Program converts the Compiled HTML Books into PDFs

So Basically you can convert nearly all Book Formats (that are not protected by
DRM) to Kindle at no cost..

If you get a DRM protected File..Well, there is a Free Program to remove the
DRM First...

(You just must invest in some Mass Storage Device (External Hard Drive) or Burn
them on a DVD.

You can do a Google Search on How to convert PDF to Kindle Format - you will
get even more options for free software.

Go to any EBOOK Download Site (Google Free Ebook Downloads) or to MININOVA.ORG
and get your Books - FOR FREE.

Some of These offer Direct stream Downloads or torrents - it depends on the Site

Mininova is a Torrent Site, so you need a Torrent Software like UTORRENT to
download the File using the Torrent.

Books download rather quickly as singles; There are torrents that have more
than 1 book in them - these take longer to download, however, with UTORRENT,
you can often choose just a single book to download out of say a torrent
containing100 books.

I have a Library of over 700,000 Books and it is still growing - everything is
in PDF and about 25% are converted to Kindle Format...However, I find that I
can put anything I can change into PDF can be converted to Kindle)

PDF Books are not large files; they store easily on an external Hard Drive

There are also free Library Programs to help you keep track of and locate your
Books on your storage Media....

I put my books on Verbatim Data Life DVDs + or - R ( They Last 100 years) and
the Library Program helps me locate the right Disk quickly to find the File on
the DVD. The File can then be transferred to the Amazon Kindle via USB

If you need more Help, let me know ???

Robert

Subject: Expat List kindle kwerie

Hi, Expatniki. As someone with a serious book problem --
where to put all the books I have -- I've kept my eye on Amazon's Kindle.
So far the problem has been downloading abroad, but now they are selling an
international Kindle with download ability in 100 countries, including -- ta
da!
-- Russia. Has anyone tried it? According to their map, most of European Russia
is covered, but... still a bit wary.

Also, are there any obscure (or not so obscure) laws that
a downloading Kindle would violate?

Many thanks

MAB
