Hello Nick, Sad to hear the above. As i understood the old lady is alive so their is a good possibility to find an amicable compromise whatever direction the case turns to. I think your friend needs a good criminal lawyer who specializes in road accident cases.
Also if you say he isnt at fault i hope he has some witnesses to support. It's not life-threatening but she's not in a good way. All is being done from my friend's side to make sure she has the best medical treatment possible even though it wasn't his fault. The GAI are now opening a criminal case against him (which is crazy, but this is Russia!!!) and he needs a good lawyer to protect himself. The husband of the grand-daughter works in the GAI, so it's not going to be easy.
