I used to work as a travel agent and, to my knowledge, if you ask United 
airlines when you check in in New York if they will check your bags all the way 
through to Moldova, you won't have to collect them and go through customs and 
immigration in Moscow (Domodedovo). United Airlines has an interline baggage 
agreement with many airlines, S7 being one of them, which means they should do 
this for you if you ask. To check, call United and once they confirm this is 
the case, ask them to leave a message in their system for the check-in staff - 
they'll see it when you check in and should do this for you.
