Yota and Comstar offer WiMax technology, which is not pure mobile 4G - this
is more like the WiFi with extended capabilities, and the base stations are
only in Moscow city. With 3G now offered by all three major mobile companies
in Moscow one can get 3.6 Mb/sec on downloads, which is more than enough for
watching youtube. I use the usb stick with MTS connection when out of Moscow
for Skype video conferences and speed and quality are good enough. Now the
real 4G comes - the LTE technology - but it will take years to develop it in
Russia, due to radio bandwidth limitations: as it was with 3G.

I have Yota 4G usb stick, and it's pretty slow. Therefore, I wouldn't go for
anything less than 4G

Unfortunately even with 3G speeds are not that impressive, Skylink remains
the only alternative if you need decent speeds, albeit it is pricy.
