The principle is simple: when entering Russia 1st half of the year (180 days) you should count days (cumulatively) until you reach 90 and then leave the country immediately until the 2nd half begins (you may enter back again on day 181). For the second half, you again count 90 days for all visits during days 181-365. This rule is symmetric to EU rules of business visits. If you stay longer than 90 days in 180 days you can do that only at a hospital, and this can be for no longer than 3 days. Violations may end up with penalties up to 5 year ban to enter Russia.
