Tom, To find an external mic for your laptop I recommend that you go into any of the chain electronic stores like M Video, El Dorado, Ion etc at most Metro stations and ask for an external microphone with a stand. That way you have it next to your laptop and you can change the position of the mic to suit computer arrangement. It should not cost you over 300p. I have one and it works fine for Skype or to record any non stereo sound.
