Hello all,

Kultura TV produced a 16 part Mon-Thur evening series(20:45-21:30) on
learning English (or any language) fast. The host, Dmitri Petrov, knows
over 30 languages and developed a technique to get anyone "off the ground"
in virtually any language using a base of 350 words. He is using English
now as his example but I hope he does other languages in the future like
Portuguese. I am working on(developing) learning all the BRIC languages.
Now I have an economic excuse to learn my favorite sounding language,
Portuguese, after I get my Russian in-shape at Liden & Denz.

If anyone can make or has made digital recordings of this program please
upload it to BKOHTAKTE. It would be of immeasurable help to the over
1,000,000 Moscovites who speak at least Intermediate English. Dmitri Petrov
does an excellent job explaining basic English grammar succinctly(few clear
words) and getting his 8 beginner/pre-Intermediate studio students to start
speaking English correctly in front of TV cameras. Imagine the stress those
students have.
For those who want to listen and learn American English phrasal verbs fast,
easy and with fun, I am assembling all 10 years of the US comedy series
"Friends" at the highest resolution with correct English subtitles. My
BKOHTAKTE account is <id151176440>, or George Dole. I am doing this
because a former client of mine who is the Comptroller of a French
Pharmaceutical company in Moscow says phrasal verbs with ease but has never
been to a Native English Speaking city like London or New York for more
than a few days. Also, I am having a lot of fun catching up(seeing)
episodes I missed. No English learner starts using phrasal verbs unless
they have lived in a Native English Speaking city for 6-9 months. However,
she does watch "Friends" everyday with her roommate here in Moscow. In
effect, she is getting 28 minutes of New York coffee shop banter almost
every day for free. It's all a matter of exposure. Like my comptroller
client I am getting 4 academic hours daily Mon through Friday at Liden &
Denz for the next 4 months.

When I tried to simultaneously listen and write down(record) all the
phrasal verbs in the Pilot(premier) 28 minute episode I got over 60. I
missed some in the first listen since they came so quickly. The best thing
is that you can see the action associated with the almost always two
syllable verb-preposition/particle combination. Watch any episode three
times and I guarantee that you will understand all the phrasal verbs in it.

Hope this helps someone.

George
