FYI: NVidia has released an X server that supports OpenGL mode on the TNT/TNT2/Vanta family of video cards. It's classified as a "development" package. I've tried this package and it does work. Quake 1 and 2 both work in windowed mode in GL - I couldn't get any fullscreen modes to work properly. Performance is so-so, but very playable.
