hi there
i have a sony vayo 505fx and tried to install linux mandrake 6.1 via ftp
with a ne2000 pcmcia network card on my notebook.
after or while getting the distribution information from the server the
installer programm kills itself - i was never able to choose packages, but
the connection itself works, the pcmcia-module was installed correctly.
it complains about some read-only mounted stuff and it couldnt save a
module or something.
i installed redhat 6.0 over ftp with the same card and experienced no
problems like this at all. however, a friend who has the same notebook got
the same crash when he tried to install mandrake over ftp as well. i guess
this must be a general ftp/pcmcia-network card problems.
is this a known issue and can i somethig against it? i'd love to try
mandrake once...
thanks for any help
-florian
