[expert] Video Card Setup Help Needed

Okay, this is getting ridiculous.  Perhaps one of you can give me some insights for 
this problem.

I have a 400PII with an ASUS motherboard trying to run Mdk 6.1.  I've taken videocards 
that work in other systems and tried it in
this 400PII/ASUS box and I can't get XFree86 to work with any videocards.  Is it 
possible that some ASUS boards can't work with
linux?  Or perhaps there are some BIOS settings that I must correct?
