The problem I was having with a kernel panic using the SMP kernel was..... The BIOS. If any of you have an abit mobo using the cerleron 366 to 550 over clocked setup, then don't use the Y2k fix bios. They took it off there site because it was causing linux probs. among others. They released a new version of the old one and it works just fine. Just a heads UP! Thanks for all the responses.
