Problem solved!
It was rather dirty, but I have it working. In case anyone is wondering:
I copied map and boot.b from the boot floppy disk. (not sure about this
since boot.b is generated after running LiLo, but I don't know about map).

I set lilo.conf such that
boot=/dev/fd0
image=/vmlinuz-2.2.14-15mdksmp
etc...
and created symbolic links at the root level to the kernel images in /boot.
Then I ran lilo -l -v to force the LINEAR mode. After making sure that the
new floppy worked, I took its boot sector and created a file (following
steps from the mini-HOWTO on Linux+NT) with it that is now in the NT root
directory (C:\). After modifying boot.ini as instructed in the mini-HOWTO, I
finally have LiLo working once I select it from the NT Loader.

thanks.

Jaime
