Hi:
I just bougt a new Quantum Fireball ict10 10.2 GB and isntalled it on my
computer. It is a UDMA/66 drive and I have no UDMA/66 controlller, but it runs
slower than my old Maxtor 8.5GB. Shoulnd't the new drive be faster, even
working in UDMA/33 mode?
Here are the results with hdparm -d1 -c1 -u1 -m16 -t -T /dev/hd?
Maxtor 8.4GB UDMA33
/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 3.40 seconds =39.95 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 5.14 seconds =14.25 MB/sec
Quantum 10.2GB UDMA66
/dev/hdc:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 3.40 seconds =37.65 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 5.14 seconds =12.45 MB/sec
