Yup .. I experienced the same thing. I believe that it is a bug. In my
case, the files that I tried to install were not on the main disk (they were
on disk 2 .. the extra disk that you can download off the ftp sites). But,
rpmdrake never promted me to insert the proper disk. It spun the cd up as if
it were going to install the package, paused for a second and then stopped.
I thought that it had installed the package but it did not. Rpmdrake never
prompted me to insert the proper cd nor did it inform me that the package
was not installed. On top of that, rpmdrake removed the package from the
package list that contains the software that is not installed on your system
and can be installed. If you exit out of rpmdrake and re-enter the program,
the package should show up again in the packages that can be installed from
the cd.
A quick solution:
Insert the second cdrom (if you have it) and make sure that your package is
located on this disk. In a console, enter the following as root:

cd /mnt/cdrom
rpm -Uvh name_of_package_you_want_to_install.rpm

you should see some info scoll by confirming that the package was installed.

If you do not have the second disk, do not fear, just dl the package from
this site: http://rufus.w3.org/linux/RPM/index.html
