IIRC, someone once said that you need to copy your
.Xauthority from /root to ~/<username> and chown it to your
user, and that that would fix it.
CAVEAT: I'm repeating what I *think* I remember, not having
had the guts to try BETA software, I don't know if it works
or not. :-)
