if you have working XF86Config files for both ( /etc/X11/XF86Config and
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4)
then just change the symlink that is /etc/X11/X to point to
/usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86 for XF4.0 or /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_VGA16 (select your
prefered X Server here) for XF 3.3
