Title: partition error

I got home last night and my PC was in Windows :( so I rebooted into Linux, and apparently someone had not shut my system down incorrectly. Now I get the following error when booting up:

/dev/hda4 contains a file system with errors, check forced.
/dev/hda4
unattached inode 146546

/dev/hda4: UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; Run fsck manually. (i.e., without -a or -p options)

Then it drops me to a shell.
I am new to Linux and am not sure if there is a way I can fix this. I really don't want to have to reinstall, as I have a website on this partition that I have worked on for quite a while. I tried to run fsck but I don't know what It is or how to use it. Any ideas? Thanks..
