I agree with you in principle (and usually in practice) but, human nature
being what it is, I doubt you'd get much cooperation.
This is a bit like the suggestion a day or two ago that we standardize on
quoted-first or quoted-after. Everyone has their own style (or none at all)
and it's probably not too realistic to expect us to change.
