First, don't forget the delay factor here - from two causes:

1 - folks read your first message and reply to it before seeing your
        2nd message
2 - propagation delay of your second message will sometimes make it
        show up late enough that folks don't see it until after
        they've replied to the first one.

Anyway, to the point.

I've not done this (and I thought someone had actually given
a pointer to how to do this, oh well I guess not), but the idea
would be:

get one of the image files onto your system.
mount it (using loopback).
copy the files off into a new dir tree somewhere
replace the supplied kernel in that tree with your new kernel.
make a new image file (remember that it will have to do
        keeno tricks with the boot sector and such,
        for THIS step I'm pretty sure someone gave a reference)
dd that image to floppy.

ta-da, you're done.
