By the way, I tryed the redhat 7.1, and the drivers that comes with it works on pcmcia cards, and can you guess what driver it it is? Yes... you won it's rtl8139.... the original one that works with both pci and pcmcia cards... There is something that has been puzzling me... if a driver works why do you change it? The error of cardmgr is: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [root@nautilus /root]# cardmgr[650]: initializing socket 0 cardmgr[650]: socket 0: Acer bla bla cardmgr[650]: executing: 'modprobe 8139too' cardmgr[650]: + /lib/modules/2.4.3-20mdk/kernel/drivers/net/8139too.o.gz: init_module: No such device cardmgr[650]: + /lib/modules/2.4.3-20mdk/kernel/drivers/net/8139too.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.3-20mdk/kernel/drivers/net/8139too.o.gz failed cardmgr[650]: + /lib/modules/2.4.3-20mdk/kernel/drivers/net/8139too.o.gz: insmod 8139too failed cardmgr[650]: + Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters cardmgr[650]: modprobe exited with status 255 cardmgr[650]: module /lib/modules/2.4.3-20mdk/pcmcia/8139too.o not available cardmgr[650]: get dev info on socket 0 failed: Resource temporarily unavailable The lines I that where added: /etc/pcmcia/config device "rtl8139" class "network" module "8139too" card "Acer bla bla" version "Acer", "ALN601a" bind "rtl8139" ----------------------------------------------------------------- Yes I also checked /etc/modules.conf... but the driver is the one that comes with mandrake... not rtl8139 but 8139too... I really like Mandrake, but if this can't be solved... well let's go back into the stone age.... With regards Orlando Reis --
