By the way, I tryed the redhat 7.1, and the drivers that comes with it
works on pcmcia cards, and can you guess what driver it it is?
Yes... you won it's rtl8139.... the original one that works with both
pci and pcmcia cards...

There is something that has been puzzling me... if a driver works why do
you change it?

The error of cardmgr is:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
[root@nautilus /root]# cardmgr[650]: initializing socket 0
cardmgr[650]: socket 0: Acer bla bla
cardmgr[650]: executing: 'modprobe 8139too'

The lines I that where added:

/etc/pcmcia/config

device "rtl8139"
  class "network" module "8139too"

card "Acer bla bla"
  version "Acer", "ALN601a"
  bind "rtl8139"
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Yes I also checked /etc/modules.conf... but the driver is the one that
comes with mandrake... not rtl8139 but 8139too...
I really like Mandrake, but if this can't be solved... well let's go
back into the stone age....
