Hi Dave, this is a fresh install. I also do have /boot on ext2 and / on reiserfs. This worked fine with 2.4.x. After that I installed 2.2.19, made a boot entry (I am using lilo by the way, but it should work with this version, right?) and rebooted -> problem. Here are the infos: drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 1024 May 4 11:22 ./ drwxr-xr-x 18 root root 4096 May 4 12:03 ../ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 May 4 11:22 System.map -> System.map-2.2.19-10mdk -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 222554 Apr 14 00:47 System.map-2.2.19-10mdk -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 200315 Apr 13 21:20 System.map-2.2.19-2mdklinus -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 410731 Apr 15 23:14 System.map-2.4.3-20mdk -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5868 Apr 8 18:11 boot-graphic.b -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6108 Apr 8 18:11 boot-menu.b -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4356 Apr 8 18:11 boot-text.b -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 512 May 4 11:44 boot.0300 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 May 4 09:52 boot.b -> boot-graphic.b -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 608 Apr 8 18:11 chain.b lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 May 4 09:46 config -> config-2.4.3-20mdk -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 33572 Apr 15 23:14 config-2.4.3-20mdk -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 256 May 4 11:44 de-latin1-nodeadkeys.klt drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 May 4 11:25 grub/ lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 May 4 11:26 kernel.h -> kernel.h-2.4.3 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 441 May 4 11:23 kernel.h-2.4.3 -rw------- 1 root root 37376 May 4 10:59 map -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35130 May 4 09:52 message -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35130 Apr 8 18:11 message-graphic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 640 Apr 8 18:11 os2_d.b lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 May 4 11:43 vmlinuz -> vmlinuz-2.4.3-20mdk lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 May 4 09:51 vmlinuz-2.2 -> vmlinuz-2.2.19-10mdk -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 768428 Apr 14 00:47 vmlinuz-2.2.19-10mdk -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 686023 Apr 13 21:20 vmlinuz-2.2.19-2mdklinus -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 833285 Apr 15 23:14 vmlinuz-2.4.3-20mdk [root@kenzo /boot]# more /etc/lilo.conf boot=/dev/hda map=/boot/map install=/boot/boot.b vga=normal default=linux-2.2.19 keytable=/boot/de-latin1-nodeadkeys.klt lba32 prompt timeout=50 message=/boot/message-graphic menu-scheme=wb:bw:wb:bw image=/boot/vmlinuz label=linux root=/dev/hda6 read-only image=/boot/vmlinuz label=failsafe root=/dev/hda6 append=" failsafe" read-only other=/dev/hda2 label=dos table=/dev/hda other=/dev/fd0 label=floppy unsafe image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.19-10mdk label=linux-2.2.19 root=/dev/hda6 read-only Dave wrote: > > If you followed the kernel upgrade procedure from the Mandrake update > page *and* you had Grub as your default bootloader, then the problems you > describe would be expected.
