I should like to have comments and/or advice
regarding some problems with MDK 8.0.
(1) I can mount (NFS) a reiserfs directory tree
on an SGI machine running IRIX 6.5, but
(a) pwd does not give the external path of
the mount point. Only the internal path
is given using the 2.4.3 kernel.
(b) pwd gives the full path, including the
externel part when running the 2.2.19 kernel.
(2) I cannot enter (no echo in the field) the name of
a network printer when I try to configure CUPS, but
(c) I can enter the name when I call printerdrake
directly. It is possible to configure a network
PostScript printer in this way, but
(d) the printer prints some of the pages on top of
eachother, that is page 2 is printet on top of
page 3. I tried to select a generic PS printer
but with the same result.
(3) I was then forced to install lpr, but
(e) it would send a PS which appeared to have zero
length. This caused the printer to hang, and
made me unpopular with the print-server administrator.
Escecially my difficulties with the configuration of
a CUPS remote PS printer looks strange to me
(it works with mdk7.2).
