I was trying to setup NIS on 7.2 and get a Solaris 8 client to authenticate, but I am having problems. I can ypcat the shared files in Solaris 8, but can't authenticate. I am not using mangled passwords as I understand it can cause problems with Solaris. Also, I tried to use Mandrake 8 to authenticate with NIS and I get a dcop error and X boots me out. Any ideas on how to resolve this? Any help much appreciated. Best regards, Andrew Judge
