Hi, all.

LM8.0
X 4.0.3-7mdk (the stock X that came on the CD)

While trying to install wine-20010629-1mdk.i586.rpm, I get these
errors:
        libXv.so.1 is needed by wine-20010629-1mdk
        libXxf86dga.so.1 is needed by wine-20010629-1mdk

My system has
    /usr/X11R6/lib/libXv.a
    /usr/X11R6/lib/libXxf86dga.a
In X 4.0.3-7mdk, these files are provided in XFree86-devel-4.0.3-7mdk.

A search thru rpmfind.net says XFree86-libs-4.0.3-11.1mdk.i586.rpm
has the necessary libraries.

Will overwriting libs -7mdk with -11.1mdk introduce any subtle
incompatabilities?

Thanks,
Ron

YODA: Code! Yes. A programmer's strength flows from code
maintainability. But beware of Perl. Terse syntax...
more than one way to do it...default variables. The
dark side of code maintainability are they. Easily
they flow, quick to join you when code you write. If
