Actually, the problem was that one CPU was 550Mhz, and another is 500Mhz.
Though the machine as a whole was running at 500Mhz, the specification
document said that this wouldn't work...
When I found two 500Mhz CPU's, and ran them at 500Mhz, things worked quite
well.
