Hi;

Does anyone know what are the default APM configuration options used by the
Mandrake team to compile the default 2.4.3 kernel in the MDK 8.0 ?

----------------------------
The context is the following:
----------------------------
After installation of the MDK 8.0 from the CDs on a Dell Inspiron 8000
laptop, the APM was working in a limited way:
        + the machine was powering off on shutdown;
        + "Fn+D" was switching the screen off without any problem.
On the other hand, none of the suspend modes were working but we didn't mind
too much.

I had to recompile the kernel to enable support for a PCMCIA PocketZip
drive (which seems to work great, by the way). With the newly compiled
kernel, the two above APM features have been lost. I have tried several
combinations of the CONFIG_APM_* compile parameters, some of them found on
the web and reported to work with the I8000, but none of them helped.
The computer has now to be switched off manually, and "Fn+D" hangs
everything pretty badly (even the "Alt+SysRq" emergency combinations cease
to operate in this case).

-------------------
Hence the questions:
-------------------
- What are the default CONFIG_APM_* parameters used to compile the default
  2.4.3 kernel in the MDK 8.0 ?

- Is there any known negative interaction between the APM and the PCMCIA
  devices ? (Paul Bristow, the PocketZip support developer, says that there
  should not be any interaction.)

- Does anybody have positive experience with APM on an Inspiron 8000 after a
  2.4.3 kernel compile (and possibly using PCMCIA devices) ?

Thanks in advance for any help.
