Try using either an ansi or at386 TERM on the SVR4 box since the linux TERM is most similar to those. Another option is to take the Linux TERMCAP/TERMINFO entry and get it working on the SVR4 box so that it has a linux TERM entry - see google or google groups for your specific UNIX.
