Do you know what file system you have? If it's ext2, use: e2fsck -f <device> The "-f" makes sure it runs the check. Sometimes the fsck program thinks the file system is clean on first check when it is not. For a ReiserFS partition, use: reiserfsck <device> Best of luck! -- Asheesh.
