Okay.

Nope. All it has is my CDRW. When I turn the camera on, I get some disk
activity, and this is in /var/log/messages:

(Here is where I first turned on the camera)
Nov 1 05:30:22 colossus kernel: hub.c: Cannot enable port 1 of hub 2,
disabling port.
Nov 1 05:30:22 colossus kernel: hub.c: Maybe the USB cable is bad?

Nov 1 05:30:24 colossus /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no drivers for USB
product 1132/4332/100

(Here I had checked lsmod, saw that usb-storage had not loaded, and
"modprobed" it)

Nov 1 05:31:22 colossus kernel: Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
Nov 1 05:31:22 colossus kernel: usb.c: registered new driver usb-storage
Nov 1 05:31:22 colossus kernel: USB Mass Storage support registered.

(Here, I switched the camera off, then back on)

I have an IDE CDRW, with SCSI emulation, so it is /dev/scd0. There are no
sd* devices in my /dev.

I appreciate your help, wish I could say it worked for me. This camera, and
my scanner, are the only reasons I still have a Windows partition.

Unsuprisingly, this is incorrect - Linux was released on August 25th, 1991,
and is therefore a virgo.
