Now I'm really getting irritated with NS...  looks like 4.79 did something to
some of my mail files so that now 4.78 is also crashing a lot...  The "fix" each
time is to delete the .<box>.summary file which forces NS to recreate it.  

I'm becoming convinced (gut feel) that NS does not lock the mail files properly
so that incoming mail, deletes and other(?) box activities are not done to
completion, then an interrupted task resumes with assumed pointers.  Just a
guess; but it sure smells like that to me.
