not being much of a compiliing man i 'cheated' and installled wxGTK6-2.2.7-13mdk from the same cooker distribution as was current at the time, at least i know i had to install one other package as well as audacity and a quick rpm -qa|grep wx gave me that answer! (it was a while ago)
