    Yes, and also the kernel-source rpm (patch level that matches your 
installed kernel) if you want to recompile the kernel, or anything that 
needs to be built against kernel source.

     It's also a good idea to check the cooker archive (link above) 
shortly after a new kernel is on the mirrors, to see what, if any 
issues there may be. EG, make xconfig is broken in -19mdk, fixed in 
2.4.17-20mdk. Actually, IMO, it's mandatory to either lurk on the 
cooker list, or read the archive if you install cooker packages on 8.1 
or older systems.
