You will need to put the correct device name (possibly /dev/scanner or maybe /dev/sg?) in the correct backend file in /etc/sane.d The mandrake scanner wizard does not appear to do this yet (for mine anyway). You can easily find out which backend is correct from the sane website. Then, you should have no problems.
