I've had this problem before. It was something to do with the fact that HTTPD couldn't resolve it's IP address from the host name.
Try doing a ping $HOSTNAME from a command line. If that doesn't work, you may be having the same problem. The real solution is to make sure your DNS and networking is set up properly so you can resolve your hostname. The quick hack solution is to add your hostname to your /etc/resolv.conf and point it to your IP address or your loopback (127.0.0.1) address. That should fix the problem...
