Assuming that You are using a simple peer to peer setup , the linux laptop 
needs to have a user defined with the same login name and password that is 
used on the windows system.This user needs to added in both the system 
and samba's configuration.If you have the cash or can find it in a 
library,SAMS Teach Yourself Samba 2nd edition made my life much easier 
when I set Samba up on my home network,
