Rod was right.

I use rsync over ssh and it works great.

/usr/bin/rsync -avrpogtl --delete -e ssh 
samnite:/home/ftp/pub/mandrake-devel/ /var/ftp/pub/mandrake-devel/

In scripts I use expect.

For a single file I use scp.
