Well, I'd bypass the frontends and go straight for cdrecord next.  
Something like:
cdrecord -v dev=2,0,0 speed=4 Mandrake9.0-cd1-inst.i586.iso  
and maybe even try -dao too as I've read of many having to use that 
for the larger isos.

maybe try that and see.
