Has anyone managed to get a USB (1.1) cd-rw working with Mandrake? I have an Acer (6424, I think--6x4x24 anyhow) and I can _read_ CDs from it, just fine. However, cdrecord -scanbus hangs (with usb-uhci) or (with uhci) says:
[root@jack-in jdyer]# cdrecord -scanbus debug=9 dev: '(NULL POINTER)' speed: -1 fs: -1 driveropts '(NULL POINTER)' Cdrecord 1.11a32 (i586-mandrake-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling TOC Type: 1 = CD-ROM scg__open() -1,-1,-1 PP Bus: -2 Bus: 0 cookie: FFFFFFFF Bus: 1 cookie: FFFFFFFF <snip> Bus: 14 cookie: FFFFFFFF Bus: 15 cookie: FFFFFFFF cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver. cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root. When I go into MCC/Mount Points/CD Burner, it says "Device: scd0"... I've tried cdrecord dev=/dev/scd0 (and "/dev/scd0:0,0,0", "/dev/sg0", "/dev/sg0:0,0,0" and "0,0,0") to no avail. I've tried un-plugging my usb printer. Am I missing something obvious? Suggestions anyone? But normal directions don't work in the multiverse, which has far too many dimensions for anyone to find their way. So new ones have to be invented so that the way can be found.
