This is weird. While in runlevel 5 I like to work on a normal text console (ALT-Ctrl-F1) quite often. midnight commander (mc) is very useful in this context, and it has always worked ok with previous versions of mandrake.
Now in mandrake 9.0 if I use mc the screen fills up with garbage (debug ?), although if I move the arrow up and down the files and directories still appear and on the whole mc seems to be working, but not displaying properly. However, if I use mc as root everything works ok. My security level is normal. Once this thing also gave me an error message when exiting mc talking about failed connection of gpm, so maybe it is a problem with interaction of gpm and mc. Does anybody else have the same problem ? Any hints ? -- Michele Alzetta
