No, I am not using ACPI. Altough, that is what I would like to have. Unfortunately, the stock kernel supplied by Mandrake does not have the ACPI support compiled in.

Is it supposed to be that way or not? But, I found it funny that we have the "clock" script being executed while "resume" but, not similar thing while going to "sleep" !!!
Can this be the reason ?
Anyone please?

If apmd is running, the only thing I can think of is some issue with:--
/etc/sysconfig/apm-scripts/resume.d/7clock
which appears to be the script responsible for syncing back to the
hardware clock. Maybe the exec bit is turned off? Once I installed
this package, things worked for me from the get-go. . .

System clock- You need the apm-scripts package. This happened to me
too.
sandeepk@sandeepk ~ $ rpm -qa | grep apm
apm-scripts-0.1-3mdk
apmd-3.0.2-1mdk

What else do I need then?
OpenOffice.org- This seems to be a GNOME problem, rather than somethingThanks for the help. I have started ignoring the OpenOffice errors and working with it the way it is.
that can be fixed by any OOo settings. You might want to try a newer
version of OOo/GNOME from contrib (if there is one). FWIW, I used GNOME
and had the same issue, switched back to KDE and have no problems.
Gnomba- didn't work for me either, used LinNeighborhood for a bit before
switching back to KDE/komba2.
Yes, I used, use, would be using LinNeighbourhood until the Gnome guys come out with a "stable" Network browser in Nautilus (smb://).
Would love to go back to KDE myself but, the speed disappoints me and I keep coming back to GNOME. I do appreciate and like both of them for
