> "Running DevFs Daemon" sits on the bottom of the screen what seems like forever before boot proceeds further. I've installed 9.0 on other boxes, plus 8.2. 8.2 doesn't have that long pause. How do I find out why it takes so long, or make it boot faster? I also get a long delay between hitting OK on login manager and the KDE loading graphic starting up. If there are delays doing anything else, they aren't apparent. -- "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. . . ." Proverbs 8:13 NIV Team OS/2 ** Reg. Linux User #211409 Felix Miata *** http://members.ij.net/mrmazda/ I, too, had long delays on the DevFS at startup. I traced it down to two causes. First, my floppy data cable was loose and I'm assuming a delay was caused by waiting for the timeout. Second, I noticed that when I had a smartcard in my card reader, it went much quicker than without. I now just plug my usb reader in when I'm expecting to use it (which was cheaper than buying another media card just for faster boots!). I don't know if these will fix your problems, but they did mine. Joeb
