hey, I have been sprouting about gShield for ages.. If you search the newbie archives for gShield, you'll find my name there quite a bit..
I used to love pmfirewall /ipchains for older linux.. mostly because it was an easy layout and I could add my own rules to the list using the same format as the existing ones.. (I ended up adding 2 dozen more rules so it protected the 64 IP's I had setup on the external interface most of which had different ports open..) When I swapped to iptables, I looked long and hard for a simple, yet comprehensive iptables firewall to replace pmfirewall. I stopped looking when I found gShield.. Incidently, there is also a handy file in the /firewall/tools directory. called gforward.pl, its a little perl script that writes port forwarding rules for you.. very handy. Another tool that is related and handy is levy.pl, its a perl script that writes iptables rules... Its on the same site as gShield. rgds Frank -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jim C Sent: Sunday, 1 December 2002 2:26 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [expert] Shorewall Follies - It's drivin' me NUTS!!
