What Happens if you set it up as

hostname1.network.net.        IN A    XXX.XXX.X.252
hostname2.network.net.       IN A    XXX.XXX.X.251
hostname3.network.net.        IN A    XXX.XXX.X.239

This should work, depending on the Original Zone that the db file is in.
