In my case it worked (after much trouble-shooting) after I did the following: 1. Turn off arts sound server (if you're using KDE) 2. Instead of using alsa drivers, use OSS (the ones that come with distro kernel) By the way, they're up to v1.41 now, but they broke multiplayer for versions 1.4 and above. The must be using a "chatty" protocol which just adds lag... Later
