I have just installed 9.1 beta 1 and I must agree with wow that it looks better.
I use gnome as my primary desktop, and it just looks a touched more polished. The font config menu gives options for font smoothing. The pointer appears transparent almost (light grey) and has a shadow .. very impressive. However I have a few questions, and wasn't sure where to ask them, so I am tacking them to the bottom of this 'wow 9.1b1 is cool' mail :) xine - ever a thorn in my side, gives me trouble. It appears I have no audio or video drivers installed. Any ideas? I suppose I could just add a cooker sauce (source) to urpmi and try installing xine from cooker .. which brings my second question.. and perhaps less beta related. How do I add a cooker source with urpmi again? Stupid me gets excited each time someone tells me.. and rapidly forgets again. Note to self: make a 'Help me' file and keep all the things in there that help me.. so I can refer to it again... Oh.. one last thing, to Mandrakesoft: Well done!! If beta1 looks this good, can't wait for 9.1!!!! Will be the best ever!! (sadly(??) looks are always what counts ;) -- Azrael ("\''/").___..--'''"-._ `0_ O ) `-.
