I haven't had this problem, so my advice will be probably somewhat
topical.  My thought is, have you tried rpm -e on timidity, and then
reinstalling the rpm?  Or failing that, have you tried uninstalling it
and then installing a newer revision.  Have you tried removing the
plugins, refreshing them, and then redetecting them?  These are the
obvious things, you've probably already tried them, but I thought I'd
take a shot at it.
