I did not mean acpi, I meant apic.  Despite the similarity of the acronym, 
they are different. Unfortunately, the people that come up with the names for 
this stuff don't realize that real people have to use it.

APIC = Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller and it causes the usb 
problems that you have described.
