this may not be the anser you want, but it is time to upgrade the whole distro 
if you are running 7.0 MDK. if you upgrade glibc then you will need to 
upgrade other stuff and then other stuff and it will just go on and on. you 
would be quicker even on a dialup, to download the gpl versions ISO and burn 
a new cdrom. it is just my opinion, but sure is a mess to upgrade that much, 
from that far aged.  of course, back everything up first.
