all the kernel compile howtos i've read refer to the bzimage file that is created in ../i386/boot/ as the image to boot and indeed that works for me, however after a compile there is a much larger 'vmlinuz' file in /usr/src/linux/ what is this, i can't help noticing that is the same name as the image file link in /boot that the mandrake kernel rpms install
